Thymosin β-4 reconstitution calculator.
A 5 mg vial of Thymosin β-4 dissolved in 2 mL of bacteriostatic water is 2,500 mcg per mL, which is 25 mcg per unit on a U-100 insulin syringe.
Thymosin beta-4 is the full 43 amino acid peptide, and TB-500 is generally a synthetic fragment of it, yet TB-500 is widely marketed under the thymosin beta-4 name. A milligram of the full peptide and a milligram of a short fragment are the same mass but not the same number of molecules, so amounts quoted for TB-500 do not carry over to Tβ4 even though the arithmetic looks identical.

Each unit on a 100u · 1.0 mL syringe ≈ 25 mcg of this solution.

More water → lower concentration → more units for the same amount.
How much bacteriostatic water for a Thymosin β-4 vial?
There is no single correct volume. More water gives a weaker solution, so each unit on the syringe holds less Thymosin β-4 and a given amount takes more units to measure, which is easier to read on the syringe scale. Less water does the opposite. These tables show the concentration for each common vial size across the usual volumes. They are arithmetic, not a recommendation of how much to take.
| BAC water | Concentration | Per 1 unit | Per 10 units |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 5,000 mcg/mL | 50 mcg | 500 mcg |
| 1.5 mL | 3,333 mcg/mL | 33.3 mcg | 333 mcg |
| 2 mL | 2,500 mcg/mL | 25 mcg | 250 mcg |
| 2.5 mL | 2,000 mcg/mL | 20 mcg | 200 mcg |
| 3 mL | 1,667 mcg/mL | 16.7 mcg | 167 mcg |
| BAC water | Concentration | Per 1 unit | Per 10 units |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 10,000 mcg/mL | 100 mcg | 1,000 mcg |
| 1.5 mL | 6,667 mcg/mL | 66.7 mcg | 667 mcg |
| 2 mL | 5,000 mcg/mL | 50 mcg | 500 mcg |
| 2.5 mL | 4,000 mcg/mL | 40 mcg | 400 mcg |
| 3 mL | 3,333 mcg/mL | 33.3 mcg | 333 mcg |
How many units of Thymosin β-4 is a given amount?
Divide the amount in micrograms by the micrograms per unit for your mix. With a solution of 2,500 mcg per mL, one unit on a U-100 syringe holds 25 mcg, so any amount in mcg divided by 25 gives the units. The calculator above does this for you from your own vial and water, and the tables give the per-unit figure for each common mix.
Why does Thymosin β-4 need its own calculation?
- Vials are 5 mg and 10 mg. On the 5 mg vial in 2.5 mL used in the example table on this page (2,000 mcg/mL), 2.5 mg is 125 units, more than a 1 mL syringe holds. The 10 mg vial in 2 mL (5,000 mcg/mL) puts the same 2.5 mg at 50 units.
- The full-length peptide's furthest clinical program, RGN-259, is an eye drop that reached Phase III. No injectable form has been approved, so there is no labeled concentration to compare a vial against.
- The calculator trusts the mass on the label. If a product is sold as TB-500 but labeled thymosin beta-4, or the reverse, the label alone may not tell you which molecule is in the vial.

Full parent compound of TB-500; same route, similar volumes.
Thymosin β-4 (Tβ4) is the full natural peptide of which TB-500 is a synthetic fragment. It is sold in 5–10 mg vials and uses the same subcutaneous injection format as TB-500. Reconstituted with BAC water.
Thymosin β-4 reconstitution: common questions
Is thymosin beta-4 the same as TB-500?
Not strictly. Thymosin beta-4 is the natural 43 amino acid peptide. TB-500 is generally a synthetic fragment or analog of it, marketed under the same name. The compound profile covers why evidence for one does not automatically describe the other.
How many units is 2 mg of thymosin beta-4?
On a 5 mg vial in 2 mL (2,500 mcg/mL), 2 mg is 2,000 mcg, which is 80 units. On a 10 mg vial in 2 mL (5,000 mcg/mL) it is 40 units. Enter your own vial and water above.
Why does my draw need more than one syringe?
Milligram-scale figures against a dilute solution can exceed 100 units, the capacity of a 1 mL U-100 syringe, and the calculator warns when that happens. Less water concentrates the vial and shrinks the volume; the amount of peptide is the same either way.

This page is arithmetic on numbers you enter. It does not recommend an amount of Thymosin β-4, and nothing here is medical advice. For what the published evidence actually supports, read the Thymosin β-4 profile, and for regulatory status see is Thymosin β-4 legal. Reviewed June 1, 2026.
