Thymosin α-1 reconstitution calculator.
Thymosin alpha-1 is used clinically in several countries as Zadaxin, supplied as a 1.6 mg vial reconstituted with 1 mL of sterile water. Research vials are 5 mg or 10 mg, so the clinical figure and the vial in your hand rarely match.
Reference range often cited for Thymosin α-1: 1500–1600 mcg, shown for orientation only, not a recommendation. Enter your own target below. Read the evidence →
Each unit on a 100u · 1.0 mL syringe ≈ 25 mcg of this solution.
Show the math
More water → lower concentration → more units for the same amount.
What changes the math for Thymosin α-1.
- The clinical presentation gives 1,600 mcg/mL, and the labeled amount is the whole vial, which is why that format exists.
- A 5 mg research vial in 2 mL is 2,500 mcg/mL instead. The same 1.6 mg target is then 64 units rather than the full 100.
- Because the labeled figure is a whole vial, copying it onto a larger research vial overstates the amount considerably. Enter your own vial mass.

Used clinically (Zadaxin); 1.6 mg/vial SC injection is the standard format.
Thymosin α-1 (Zadaxin) is used clinically in several countries for immune modulation and chronic hepatitis B/C treatment. It is provided as a 1.6 mg lyophilized vial reconstituted with 1 mL sterile water (since clinical use is single-dose, sterile water rather than BAC water is supplied). Research contexts often mirror this format.
FAQ.
How is Zadaxin reconstituted?
As a 1.6 mg lyophilized vial with 1 mL of sterile water, giving 1,600 mcg/mL, where the labeled amount is the vial's full contents. Where the approved product and its labeling apply, they govern.
How many units is 1.6 mg from a 5 mg vial?
On 5 mg in 2 mL (2,500 mcg/mL), 1.6 mg is 1,600 mcg, which is 64 units. The clinical 1 mL figure does not transfer, because the vial mass and volume are both different.
Is thymosin alpha-1 FDA-approved?
It is approved in a number of countries but not by the FDA, which is a distinction the site keeps strictly. The legal status page sets out where it stands.
This page is arithmetic on numbers you enter. It does not recommend an amount of Thymosin α-1, and nothing here is medical advice. For what the published evidence actually supports, read the Thymosin α-1 profile, and for regulatory status see is Thymosin α-1 legal. Reviewed June 1, 2026.
