PEG-MGF reconstitution calculator.

Research / preclinicalCommon vials: 2, 5 mg

A 2 mg vial of PEG-MGF dissolved in 2 mL of bacteriostatic water is 1,000 mcg per mL, which is 10 mcg per unit on a U-100 insulin syringe.

This calculator is for PEG-MGF only: plain MGF has no established human format, and the site deliberately publishes no example math for it. PEG-MGF is the MGF E-domain peptide with a polyethylene glycol chain attached, and the PEG has mass of its own, so a milligram of PEG-MGF and a milligram of plain MGF need not contain the same amount of the underlying peptide.

Reference range often cited for PEG-MGF: 100–200 mcg, shown for orientation only, not a recommendation. Enter your own target below. Read the evidence →

More water → lower concentration → more units for the same amount.

How much bacteriostatic water for a PEG-MGF vial?

There is no single correct volume. More water gives a weaker solution, so each unit on the syringe holds less PEG-MGF and a given amount takes more units to measure, which is easier to read on the syringe scale. Less water does the opposite. These tables show the concentration for each common vial size across the usual volumes. They are arithmetic, not a recommendation of how much to take.

How many units of PEG-MGF is a given amount?

Divide the amount in micrograms by the micrograms per unit for your mix. With a solution of 2,500 mcg per mL, one unit on a U-100 syringe holds 25 mcg, so any amount in mcg divided by 25 gives the units. The calculator above does this for you from your own vial and water, and the tables give the per-unit figure for each common mix.

Why does PEG-MGF need its own calculation?

  • Vials are 2 mg and 5 mg. 2 mg in 2 mL is 1,000 mcg/mL, which is 10 mcg per unit; the 5 mg vial in the same water is 2,500 mcg/mL, or 25 mcg per unit.
  • No human trial of PEG-MGF has been completed, so there is no reference amount of any kind to check a draw against. The example table on this page is arithmetic, not evidence.
  • PEGylation is there to slow the breakdown of a very short-lived peptide. That is pharmacology, not arithmetic: it changes how long the peptide lasts in the body, not mass divided by volume.

How is PEG-MGF administered, and what does the math look like?

How PEG-MGF is actually administered, with the concentration arithmetic written out. Amounts in these tables are illustrative examples of the math, never a recommendation.

PEG-MGF: research formats

Choose the format you are researching to see route-specific notes.

Sold as a lyophilized research vial. No human trials have been completed, so no format is validated in people.

PEG-MGF is the MGF E-domain peptide with a polyethylene glycol group attached to slow degradation of the otherwise very short-lived native peptide. It is sold as a research-use-only lyophilized vial, commonly 2 mg, and reconstituted with bacteriostatic water like other lyophilized peptides. Reconstituting 2 mg with 2.0 mL BAC water gives 1,000 mcg/mL.

This is not a dosing recommendation. Amounts shown are illustrative examples of the concentration math.

The concentration math above is arithmetic, not evidence. No human clinical trials of PEG-MGF have been completed; the evidence base is preclinical and ex vivo, and the underlying E-peptide activity is itself contested.

PEG-MGF is not approved by any regulator and is prohibited in sport under WADA category S2 (peptide hormones, growth factors, and related substances).

PEG-MGF reconstitution: common questions

Is PEG-MGF the same as MGF?

No. Both are built on the same E-domain peptide, but PEG-MGF has a polyethylene glycol group attached to slow its degradation. Figures for one do not describe the other, and only PEG-MGF has a calculator page.

How much bacteriostatic water for a 2 mg PEG-MGF vial?

There is no correct volume, only a concentration you choose. 1 mL gives 2,000 mcg/mL (20 mcg per unit) and 2 mL gives 1,000 mcg/mL (10 mcg per unit). The peptide amount is identical either way.

Is there human data on PEG-MGF?

No completed human trials exist. The evidence is preclinical and ex vivo, and the activity of the underlying E-peptide is itself contested. It is also prohibited in sport under WADA category S2.

What the evidence on PEG-MGF actually shows

Knowing the concentration is not the same as knowing whether to use it. These are the strongest studies behind the PEG-MGF profile, labelled with the study type PubMed itself assigns.

Before you use any of this

This page is arithmetic on numbers you enter. It does not recommend an amount of PEG-MGF, and nothing here is medical advice. For what the published evidence actually supports, read the PEG-MGF profile, and for regulatory status see is PEG-MGF legal. Reviewed June 1, 2026.
