Comparison

PepCue vs Pep AI.

Pep AI aims to capture everything that happens around a protocol, not just the dose. Its listing describes photo meal scanning and macro tracking, hydration, sleep, mood and side effects, estimated medication levels, an Apple Watch app with Live Activities, and an AI companion called Arlo for educational questions. It also states plainly that a paid subscription is required to access its tracking features. PepCue tracks less of your day, charges nothing to track it, and spends its effort on grading the evidence behind each compound instead.

The short version
Pick PepCue if

You want to log doses, sites, vials and cost without a subscription, and you want each compound graded on a published evidence model rather than summarised.

Pick Pep AI if

You want food, water, sleep and side effects in the same place as your doses, glanceable on an Apple Watch and the Lock Screen, with an AI companion to ask questions. Pep AI is built for that. PepCue logs no meals and has no watch app, and its in-app assistant answers questions about your log rather than acting as a companion.

How much of this we could verify

Checked against Pep AI's App Store listing in October 2026, and their column comes from that listing. Its website did not render a feature list we could read. We have not printed prices, ratings or review counts.

Side by side, verifiable rows only.

A cell is filled only where we could confirm the fact from public information. “Not verified” means we could not confirm it, not that the app lacks it.

What PepCue does differently.

The first difference is where the paywall sits. Pep AI's listing says a paid subscription is required to access its tracking features. PepCue puts no subscription gate on logging, schedules, the calculators or the evidence library, and a full protocol can be run without paying. That is not a judgement on subscriptions, which pay for features PepCue does not have. It is a plain difference in what each app lets you do before you pay.

The second is what each app thinks is worth tracking. Pep AI widens the frame to the whole day: meals, macros, fiber, water, sleep, mood and side effects, pulled into one dashboard with pattern analysis. PepCue narrows it to the protocol: compounds, doses, sites, vials, cost, symptoms and weight. For a GLP-1, where appetite and protein intake are half the story, the wider frame has obvious value. For a multi-compound peptide protocol, the narrower one keeps the record clean and the reconstitution math front and centre.

The third is the reference layer. Pep AI answers questions through Arlo, its AI companion, and describes itself as educational. PepCue answers through written profiles, each carrying an S to F tier computed from six scored axes: human evidence, preclinical depth, mechanism confidence, safety clarity, regulatory clarity and practical relevance. The model, thresholds and a worked example are published, so a grade can be checked rather than taken on trust.

Behind those profiles sit 306 cited sources across 69 compounds and a generated index of 274 unique PubMed records re-resolved against live PubMed by an audit script in the repo. Tracking data stays on your phone. There are no affiliate codes, no vendor rankings and nothing for sale, and no page tells anyone what to take.

Where Pep AI is stronger.

Pep AI covers far more of daily life than PepCue does, and for GLP-1 users that breadth is the point. Photo meal scanning, macro and fiber tracking, restaurant menu scanning and hydration goals address the part of treatment that happens at the table. PepCue logs no meals at all.

The Apple ecosystem reach is a real convenience. An Apple Watch app, Live Activities, Lock Screen and Dynamic Island notifications and home screen widgets put the next dose where you will see it without opening anything, and Apple Health syncing carries data into the rest of your phone. PepCue overlaps on part of this, with a dose Live Activity and Apple Health on iPhone, but has no watch app and no home screen widget.

Arlo is the other difference. Both apps have an assistant, but PepCue AI is narrower: it answers questions about your own log and turns away dosing and diagnosis questions. Community groups for sharing progress are a fourth thing Pep AI offers.

FAQ.

Is Pep AI free?

Pep AI is free to download, but its App Store listing says a paid subscription is required to access its tracking features. We do not print its prices; check their listing. PepCue is free to use, and a full protocol can be run without paying.

Does PepCue track food and macros like Pep AI?

No. PepCue tracks compounds, doses, injection sites, vials, cost, symptoms, weight and measurements, but not meals, macros or water. If nutrition tracking matters to you, Pep AI covers it and PepCue does not.

Does PepCue have an AI companion like Arlo?

PepCue has an in-app assistant, PepCue AI, that answers questions about what you have logged and turns away dosing, sourcing and diagnosis questions. On the website, every answer is a page someone wrote and sourced, which you can check.

Can I use both?

Yes. The PepCue library, tier board and calculators need no account, so you can read a compound's grade on the website while logging in whichever app you prefer.
