Peptide bioregulator.
A marketing and research-programme label, not an established pharmacological class.
Peptide bioregulator is a term applied to a group of very short peptides, often two to four amino acids long, proposed to act as tissue-specific regulators of gene expression, with each said to correspond to a particular organ. The label deserves an honest framing: it originates from a specific research programme and has been carried into marketing largely intact, and it is not an established pharmacological class recognised in the way that GLP-1 receptor agonists or GHRH analogs are. There is no standard definition of what qualifies a compound as a bioregulator, no agreed receptor or mechanism shared across the group, and no regulatory category corresponding to the name. The proposed mechanism, that very short peptides enter cells and bind DNA to regulate transcription in a tissue-selective way, is a serious claim that would require substantial independent confirmation, and the supporting literature is concentrated in a narrow set of sources rather than replicated broadly. Much of it is preclinical. None of this establishes that the compounds do nothing. It establishes that the category name conveys an appearance of scientific standing that the underlying evidence base does not yet support, and that each compound should be evaluated on its own record rather than on the strength of the label.
