Zadaxin alternatives.
5 compounds compared to Zadaxin, ranked by published evidence tier and regulatory status, not by what's marketed hardest.
Zadaxin is a brand name for thymosin α-1. The alternatives below are compared to that molecule.
Thymosin alpha-1 is approved and prescribed in roughly thirty countries, chiefly for chronic hepatitis B and as an immune adjunct, and it is not approved by the FDA or centrally by the EMA. That mismatch is the entire alternatives search: American readers find one of the most clinically studied immunomodulatory peptides in existence and then find they cannot legitimately be prescribed it. The compounding route is closed too. The FDA placed it in Category 2 of the interim 503A bulk substances list in 2023, and its 2024 removal came from the nomination being withdrawn, leaving no clear compounding pathway. The other thymic peptides carry less evidence, not more.
Thymosin alpha-1 (Tα1, international nonproprietary name thymalfasin; brand name Zadaxin) is a synthetic 28-amino-acid acetylated peptide identical to a naturally occurring fragment derived from prothymosin alpha, a protein produced in the thymus.

An “alternative” here means a compound that shares Thymosin α-1's mechanism pathway or sits in the same category, not a marketing substitute. Each is ordered by PepCue's evidence tier (a weighted 0–100 score across human data, safety, replication and regulatory clarity), then by whether it's actually approved. This is a research reference, not medical or purchasing advice: an alternative sitting higher on evidence does not mean it's right, safe, or legal for any given use. Reviewed June 1, 2026.
