Larazotide alternatives.
5 compounds compared to Larazotide, ranked by published evidence tier and regulatory status, not by what's marketed hardest.
Larazotide alternatives are searched by people with celiac disease who were following its progress. It was the leading candidate for a first non-dietary treatment aimed at patients still symptomatic on a gluten-free diet, designed to act locally in the small intestine rather than systemically. It reached Phase 3, and then the pivotal CeD-2001 trial was discontinued for likely futility on its primary endpoint. It is not approved by the FDA or EMA. That is the difficult part of this answer: no other peptide has cleared regulators for intestinal barrier repair in celiac disease either, so the compounds below share a category rather than offering a route larazotide failed to open.
Larazotide (larazotide acetate, research code AT-1001) is a synthetic eight-amino-acid peptide investigated as an oral, gut-restricted therapy for celiac disease.

An “alternative” here means a compound that shares Larazotide's mechanism pathway or sits in the same category, not a marketing substitute. Each is ordered by PepCue's evidence tier (a weighted 0–100 score across human data, safety, replication and regulatory clarity), then by whether it's actually approved. This is a research reference, not medical or purchasing advice: an alternative sitting higher on evidence does not mean it's right, safe, or legal for any given use. Reviewed June 1, 2026.
