Why people look for an alternative

Hexarelin was studied in the 1990s and 2000s both as a growth hormone secretagogue and, more unusually for this class, for direct effects on the heart. That second line is why some people found it. The alternatives search begins when they find the rest: it never received FDA or EMA approval, its clinical development was discontinued, it is prohibited in sport at all times by WADA under category S2, and it is generally sold only as a research chemical.
