Gonadorelin alternatives are usually an availability problem rather than a preference. It was FDA-approved for humans in the 1980s as Factrel for the GnRH stimulation test and as Lutrepulse for pulsatile ovulation induction, but those human products have been discontinued in the US. DailyMed now lists it only in approved veterinary products, and present-day human access runs mostly through compounding pharmacies. So people search for something they can be prescribed as a finished drug. Because its half-life is only a few minutes and its action is on the GnRH receptor, close substitutes are limited; HCG, which mimics luteinizing hormone further down the same axis, is the approved option people most often land on.
