GHRP-2 alternatives.

10 compounds compared to GHRP-2, ranked by published evidence tier and regulatory status, not by what's marketed hardest.

Why people look for an alternative

GHRP-2 holds a distinction no other growth hormone secretagogue does: it is approved in Japan, marketed by Kaken as a single-dose diagnostic agent for assessing growth hormone deficiency. Read that carefully, because it explains the search. The approval is for diagnosis, not therapy, and it does not exist in the United States, where GHRP-2 is research-use-only and prohibited in sport under WADA's S2 category. People looking for an alternative usually want a therapeutic use this approval does not cover, or a compound without the cortisol and prolactin release that characterizes the older GHRPs. Ipamorelin was engineered for the second problem. Nothing solves the first.

How this list is built

An “alternative” here means a compound that shares GHRP-2's mechanism pathway or sits in the same category, not a marketing substitute. Each is ordered by PepCue's evidence tier (a weighted 0–100 score across human data, safety, replication and regulatory clarity), then by whether it's actually approved. This is a research reference, not medical or purchasing advice: an alternative sitting higher on evidence does not mean it's right, safe, or legal for any given use. Reviewed June 1, 2026.
