DSIP alternatives.

10 compounds compared to DSIP, ranked by published evidence tier and regulatory status, not by what's marketed hardest.

Why people look for an alternative

DSIP is a genuine scientific puzzle, and that is worth knowing before you compare anything. It was isolated in 1974 from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits in induced slow-wave sleep and named for that apparent property, yet no gene, precursor protein, or specific receptor for it has ever been definitively identified. It has only ever been an investigational compound, is not approved by the FDA or, to public knowledge, any major regulator for sleep or any indication, and is sold as a research-use-only chemical rather than a quality-controlled medicine. No peptide has an approved sleep indication, so nothing in this list is a better-evidenced version of the same idea.

How this list is built

An “alternative” here means a compound that shares DSIP's mechanism pathway or sits in the same category, not a marketing substitute. Each is ordered by PepCue's evidence tier (a weighted 0–100 score across human data, safety, replication and regulatory clarity), then by whether it's actually approved. This is a research reference, not medical or purchasing advice: an alternative sitting higher on evidence does not mean it's right, safe, or legal for any given use. Reviewed June 1, 2026.
