CagriSema is the first amylin-plus-GLP-1 combination to reach late-stage development, and interest in it is running well ahead of its availability. It is investigational and not approved by the FDA or EMA, with a US application for chronic weight management submitted in December 2025 and a decision anticipated in late 2026. The components have split statuses that matter here: semaglutide is already approved as Wegovy and Ozempic, while cagrilintide alone is not approved at all. So for most people the alternative to CagriSema is simply the semaglutide half of it, available now, without the amylin component that makes the combination interesting.
