ACE-031 alternatives.

10 compounds compared to ACE-031, ranked by published evidence tier and regulatory status, not by what's marketed hardest.

Why people look for an alternative

ACE-031 is different from most compounds people compare: it genuinely reached human clinical trials rather than stopping at animals. The reason anyone looks for an alternative is that those trials ended. Development was terminated in the early 2010s after the Duchenne muscular dystrophy trial was stopped for safety, so there is no legitimate supply and any vial sold online is unapproved research-grade material. What people usually want next is another way to interfere with myostatin. That is where the search runs out of road: follistatin-344 has only been studied as a delivered gene-therapy transgene, and no myostatin-pathway drug holds approval for building or preserving muscle.

ACE-031 (ramatercept) is not a peptide but a recombinant fusion protein that joins the extracellular domain of the human activin receptor type IIB (ActRIIB) to the Fc region of IgG1.

How this list is built

An “alternative” here means a compound that shares ACE-031's mechanism pathway or sits in the same category, not a marketing substitute. Each is ordered by PepCue's evidence tier (a weighted 0–100 score across human data, safety, replication and regulatory clarity), then by whether it's actually approved. This is a research reference, not medical or purchasing advice: an alternative sitting higher on evidence does not mean it's right, safe, or legal for any given use. Reviewed June 1, 2026.
